Dear Loungeheads,
here’s a short recap of my heaviest Easter holidays ever, catched in the sympol pic above.
My first trip to Norway was big fun. I was playing twice very late night at the bar at the conference hotel of INFERNO MUSIC CONFERENCE, which is part of Norway’s biggest Metal festival called INFERNO METAL FESTIVAL in the heart of Oslo.
Playing for delegates, fellow musicians and visitors at a fancy four star hotel filled with loads of Metalheads was perfect for a Metal playing bar pianist like me. Even AMON AMARTH guitarist Johan Söderberg attended my gig and filmed me when playing their classic „Raise Your Horns“. And I’ve shaked the hand of former president of Iceland, Gudni Jóhanesson. Yes, he also was a delegate and the first former head of state I’ve made shake-hands with.
I even played a few bars on a grand piano without permission in the breakfast area – at midnight – but got stopped by the hotel staff. Because it was late and actually, the piano is not meant to be played by guests. The instrument once belonged to Frank Sinatra. I guess my Granddad would have been proud of me…
Flying back on Saturday and getting up early on Easter Sunday to play early at DARK EASTER METAL MEETING at Backstage Munich. Actually, I was only booked for playing after doors until the first band started. But it was the perfect beer garden weather, so I played two more sets. Yes, it was great fun.
Now I am sitting in front of my laptop not only to write these lines but also to do more booking. As already said, a few great festivals are in the pipeline for HEAVY METAL BARPIANO in 2025, but most are yet to be confirmed. Stay tuned.
